Hi David major surgery with bladder removal is my urologist preferred option now, however not a path I want to take. Chemo is only the first choice for muscle invasive bladder cancer, BCG immunotherapy is definitely right way to go for non invasive, it worked 99% for me and my team were so happy that it had worked so well for my ureter. I have no pain and are well and more than happy to do nothing, but will do the chemo, more for my husband questions!! I never know what to ask thanks for kind words and good wishes to mum

Hi Susana thanks again for your reply I am not sick in any way, other than I get tired in the afternoon, and a reason I would like not to have anymore treatments however I am high grade with two options chemo or preferred option bladder removal, at this stage I hope the cystoscopy gives the go ahead for chemo 👌🏻

Hi David sounds like your mum and I are on similar journey I was very fortunate as when I first saw gynaecologist I was sent to urologist. I have been on same treatment plan two rounds of 6 week BCG immunotherapy, 12 treatments, my cancer is only in bladder but I had cancer at edge of right ureter so have had a stent, after my last cystoscopy surgery stent taken out, I am seeing a professor at end of month and will start chemo, but this will all depend on another cystoscopy to see if my bladder ‘is suitable’ as I had cancer in ureter and I still have a tiny tumour on edge of lining I am high grade and the preferred option by doctors is bladder removal, a path I’m not looking at, hopefully the chemo will be suitable first thanks for your kind information and good wishes to your mum so good to hear about another female

Hi Susana thank you for your reply, very overwhelming and so much information, more information than I have had. I don’t have many options other than major bladder surgery, which I’m confident I won’t be taking, I am seeing a Professor who had success with chemotherapy trials in a week, and looks like l might be suitable, same procedure as BCG which I had 12 treatments but no longer an option.

Hi thanks again for some great advice, my husband comes with me every visit, we feel we ask relevant questions, and usually hAve a list, my surgeon draws us pictures which is really good, I simply think I don’t want to know a lot, then I think I should know, I guess as I have only two options and as I am really well my main worry is when or will I get sick

Hi thanks so much for your reply and advice, you are always advised to ask questions, sometimes it is just so hard to know the questions to ask. I have asked if I do nothing how long will the progress be; I was told quickly or may be slow. we are going away at Christmas so major bladder surgery will not be an option this year if I was going that way,. I think we will be going with the chemo which will be six weeks of treatments, problem with that, I have to in for surgery before to even see if I will be suitable,so not much available to me. Do you have a stoma bag as I will have one if I go with surgery. thank you so much

Good luck Mike when your BCG immunotherapy starts, the catheter is for so a short time maybe a couple of minutes if that and I do realise it is painful for men, but for the next two hours all pain free , so you have absolutely got this

So sorry, I do know how you and your dear sister feel, after my bladder cancer diagnosis in December within two months the same happened to me, I’m convinced people think we are contagious, sometimes you just want a friend to show some care, we don’t want people feeling sorry for us, I hope life and health are on the up

After 12 rounds of BCG immunotherapy treatments they have done there job 99% so now I have two options , major bladder removal surgery or chemotherapy trial, if I do go with major surgery it won’t be till next year, has anyone gone through or in process of chemo trial for bladder cancer, apparently this trial only started in 2022 at Olivia Newton John /Austin Hospital, I will possibly decide to go chemo trial. What paths have other taken? Especially female bladder removal, as not something I think I will go with any experiences and advice welcome 💖💖
