Thank you kasianne. Yes I understand about smoking as I was a smoker for a time. I don't nag him and don't intent to start, I just want him to talk to me about it and not try to hide the fact he is still smoking. He knows he will be better off without smoking and was told that some doctors refuse to treat people who continue to smoke but yet he still smokes, this is what I don't understand. Why stop trying to quit and why try to do it on your own when you have loving people around you that understand and are wanting to help. It just hurts that he keeps to himself. I love him and want him around. Smoking is only going to take him from me quicker than if he was to stop. Thanks we will enjoy our poker night we always do.

My boyfriend has quit quitting, he is smoking again, I am so worried, he has developed a cough and sniffles a lot, I think its because he is smoking again but cannot say anything to him because he snaps my head off every time I try to say anything to him about it. He seems to think because the cancer removed from his lung turned out to be melanoma that smoking is ok and he has to stay out of the sun and all will be well. How can anyone think it is ok to smoke. Not sure if it was right or wrong but I told his mother he has stopped using his patches and is still smoking and never really stopped the whole time. She wasn't surprised and said she will try and talk to him about it. Now I worry he will be angry at me if he finds out I said something. We are still waiting to get an appointment to see the melanoma clinic, it has been weeks and I said to him this morning that he should ring and see if he can find out when he will get an appointment. I hope he does but very much doubt he will. On a happier note its poker night again this Saturday night, the family get together monthly and dress up and play poker, its nice to have a bit of fun so hope it isn't to cold.

Today I am feeling much better about the things that are going on in my life. Its amazing how much a little information can make all the difference. Only a couple of days ago I was wondering how I would ever get through Darryn having melanoma. Today I feel bad with my own health issues but I feel much better than I have in a long time. We went to Darryn's G.P. that he saw up on the sunshine coast where we used to live because He trusts him and wanted him to explain things that we were worrying about. He couldn't really help us much so he got on the phone and talked to the doctors that Darryn has seen at the hospital and then explained things to us and now we don't feel so lost and can wait for the appointment to see the melanoma clinic without going crazy with worry. Thanks Dr. Harris. The wait for information continues but we are much more at ease and can wait without going nuts.

Thanks Gail, yes I have talked to the cancer helpline and they told me a few things that set my mind a ease. We went to see a doctor today that did some tests that has answered a few of our main concerns so now we are not stressing out so much as it all seems like there isn't to much to worry about. yes he has melanoma but the primary is nowhere to be found and the growth in his lung is removed and all is good with that, so it much easier to wait and not worry to much. We just have to wait to see the melanoma clinic at the hospital to see where we go from here as far a tests and monitoring him to make sure no more cancers are found.

Yesterday my boyfriend went for a skin check and they didn't find any sign of a melanoma at all, nothing at all on his whole body. But he saw on the file the skin specialist was writing in that he had put down stage 4 melanoma. This got him worrying that he was going to die and he came home and got onto the Internet and googled stage 4 melanoma. Now he thinks the worst of course and thinks he hasn't got long to live. This upset me enough for me to ring the cancer helpline to ask about it. The guy on there was very good and eased my mind very much. He said even tho it is stage 4 melanoma it dons't mean its really bad. He has no sign of any other cancer in his body so it isn't as serous as if he had cancer throughout his body. We are still waiting for the melanoma clinic at the hospital to call so still know nothing about what to expect in the way of treatment or severity of his condition. I hate all this waiting it is wearing us both down and I'm not sure how much longer we can keep waiting. I'm hoping they will see us soon so we can get some answers. I have had people who have cancer tell me that if they thought it was serious they would see him quickly but because they haven't seenhim yet that it's not so serious. I hope this is true.

My boyfriend had a growth removed from his lung a few weeks ago and the test results showed it wasn't lung cancer but melanoma. Today he went for a skin check and nothing has been found. Does this mean the cancer that was removed from his lung is a secondary cancer? If so what does this mean? I am so worried as he got on the Internet and now after reading about melanoma he thinks he has stage 4 melanoma. Could this be the case or is he just thinking the worst? We are waiting for the hospital to let us know when his appointment is for the melanoma clinic. Should we be worried or not yet? So worried and need answers.

Today I am having another bad day. Darryn woke up with a headache this morning and is in a bad mood. I don't seem to be able to cope with it when he gets like this and it seems he is more often in a bad mood more often that not these days. I know he has a lot of worry and I should be able to support him on these days. Why can't I keep it together for him. I think its because I have had so much sadness in my life and my health is not very good these days with having fibromyalgia, arthritis and constant pain in my neck. I makes it hard for me to be strong for him and it upsets me that I can't stay strong. That is my problem today I think, he got up feeling like crap and so did I but I couldn't bring myself to tell him I felt just as bad as he did. Anyway, I have to go send my Mum an email. She is in hospital and I am not up to visiting or ever calling her so I will opt for an email. 🙂 I love internet, I can smile even when its the last thing I can bring myself to do. 🙂

I am having a similar problem with my boyfriend, The doctors found a tiny lump in his lung while doing other tests and it was thought to be lung cancer, as it turns out its melanoma. We are still waiting to hear what this all means but my boyfriend has almost shut me and his whole family out. I have to ask to go with him to appointments, he won't talk about his feelings, he just tells everyone it doesn't help to talk or worry so just forget it. I am struggling with this as is his family. Sorry not to have any idea how to help you but I agree with the above comment and I would send flowers or a card or better still call him or drop in to see him and tell him you still want to be there for him, if thast how you feel. Most likely if you leave it to him to contact you he never will. My boyfriend told me I have a decision to make when he was told he had cancer and when I asked what he meant by that he said he didn't want me to have to go through the cancer thing again. My son had cancer 11 years ago, he is fine now and also my step dad died of cancer and he knew this. I burst into tears and told him I wasn't going to leave him because he got cancer. So maybe your guy is thinking the same thing. I would go see him soon if you want to be with him. I hope I have helped you is some way. 🙂

I have found out this morning that my boyfriends daughter is in hospital, she is 24 weeks pregnant and in hospital indefinitely with premature rupture of her membranes, they are trying to keep her out of laoubor for as long as possible and giving her steroids for the babies lungs for his best chance if he is born, so she is high risk! Very scary don't know what to think. I would like to be able to suport her through this but my bf dosn't talk to either of his daughters so I don't think there is much I can do. I don't know them much at all and have only met they both a couple of times. Its complicated and of course I only know his side of things. So yet another thing to worry about. I am hateing life right now an dcan't wait till it improves. I am going with Darryn on thirsday to his post opp apoitment so hopefully we will find something out about how he has melanoma and not lung cancer, or at least get an appoitment time to find out more.
