Hi @Michelle21,
Welcome to the community
Have you come across the children's book 'In the Rainbow' by Tracey Newnham? I think this would be a good starting point for the kids.
In the Rainbow by Tracey Newnham
A little bit about the book: "When caring for her two young boys and partner throughout his cancer journey, Tracey Newnham recognised the need for a resource to assist families living through such an overwhelming time. In the Rainbow encourages adults and children to speak up, reach out, love and support each other. This story educates us all about the real emotions shared during illness and grief. Themes of perseverance, strength, resilience emotional intelligence and, most importantly, the power of faith, love and trust are explored. In the Rainbow has been written and illustrated with authenticity and in loving memory of a superhero Dad who lived in constant amazement of his superhero sons."
You can read more here on her website: https://intherainbow.com.au/. This book has also been reviewed by the University of NSW.
CanTeen are also perfect to be in contact with, they do work with children who have experienced the loss of a parent to cancer - they also have a children's community which might be a good space for some of your children. Well worth giving them a call!
We also have a Telephone Support Group which runs for 6 weeks, for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one to cancer. This might be a good option for you I just sent over a welcome email before, so if you like, respond to that with your phone number and I'll have one of our facilitators call you.
Regarding the braca2 gene, there would be others that may have had to consider this. Can anyone out there offer Michelle21 some wisdom?
Cheers,
Kate

Here's a song for your Tuesday... yeah I'm doing the weekday themed songs right now
@Lehiatus - Take it easy and concentrate on you! Returning to work won't be any fun at all, especially with a commute like that. Are you able to maybe chat to your boss and work remotely a few days a week until you're up to it and maybe just go in one day a week, work your way up slowly?
Here are some things to take a look at that may be of interest around the subject of returning to work:
Returning to work (webinar)
How do I manage difficult conversations at work? (webinar)
Cancer and working - this one is a section of our website that covers everything for people who are working during a cancer experience, legalities and leave entitlements, covering things like flexible work arrangements etc.
Cancer for employers - a great link to shoot over to your boss, you should also perhaps contact HR?
Cancer Care and your rights (pdf book) - everything you need to know about your rights down under, well worth the read for any of our Aussies.
I hope you enjoyed the sun yesterday @PhilPepper, it's stunning day here looking over to the Sydney CBD and out over towards the Harbour! ☀️
@Lampwork54, glad you were able to smile You're way ahead of me on the spring cleaning, I don't even want to think about my windows!!
Oh how lovely @Budgie, enjoy the rest of your trip
And @RJG, love the cows! 🐄🐄🐄

Hi @Mani!
How have you been doing the past few weeks?
I'm not sure if you've made a decision regarding your treatment as yet, but here's a few places that have a bit more information about Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplants:
Australian Bone Marrow Donor Registry.
The Leukaemia Foundation has a fair bit of information about Allogeneic Transplants.
We have a fair bit of information about it over on our main website (Cancer Council).
You may find our podcast on Making Treatment Decisions helpful as well.
Has anyone else here had experience with stem cell transplants? Or perhaps a family member or friend has?

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis @DebL, that must have been a shock! 😞
You're definitely not alone here, there are a few others that were recently diagnosed with bowel cancer and started treatment as well... @PhilPepper, @Albundy21 and @Sarah1, would definitely understand what you've been going through and may be able to offer some insight.
Cheers,
Kate

There are a few people here who have had experience with GBM, or have had family members with such. Hopefully one will see this and respond
How is your mum doing?
