Doug
Thank you, I should have said that was 26 years ago and that I am lucky enough to have survived the X amount of years. Then diagnosed with another different cancer and MS in the middle. Ran over a chinaman I think!!
I agree on the whole the medical staff are great ... just is hard when getting bad news delivered in what can be seen as lacking compassion and empathy. Yet, I often wonder how it must be for someone having to tell someone else the bad news.

With my first cancer I was given the possibility of a month to live or X amount of years. This news was given to me by an incredibly caring GP. I had an appointment to get the results from my 2nd biopsy and he made sure I had someone coming in with me and also phoned my father to come and be with my Mum and myself. He then urged me to make a 2nd appointment in 3 days time because he said I wouldn't absorb all that was being said to me. Incidentally, he was the junior doctor in the surgery that I went to and if not for him I am sure I would be dead. It was he who pushed to get a biopsy done on my lump and 2 other doctors were saying no.
Second cancer is a different story.

Paul
I struggled with my 2nd chemo ... i think they whammy us with that one. I did speak to my onco bloke after the 2nd and the 3rd one was a breeze. He changed anti nausea drugs and think maybe they lowered the dose?
Paul, it sucks having to take time off and I had 5 months off for treatment and then it took a while for me to get back to work. I was just not physically, mentally or emotionally able to deal with working and this cancer has taken it's toll on me.
I am now back to working more than full time hours. Took a while to recover. Slowly but surely I just kept working at things and managed to claw my way back to some sort of normality.

Paul ... when I finished chemo I got scoped by an ENT and he said there was still some of the tumour left. Then I had radiotherapy and no problems since.
Take care

Hey Tom
The waiting and wondering part is a bitch. It is the worst time because the mind wonders. I always try and keep my mind right in the "here and now" and that for me is such an internal struggle and yet it works because I am no longer focussing on the worry, more the keeping the mind in the right place. You sound like you have already been through quite a lot and am not suprised that you are feeling a bit nervous about upcoming surgery. Hope you start to feel a bit better soon. Hang in there!

Your doing well Paul ... just keep your mind in a healthy place and try not to dwell too much on things that may or may not happen. Just deal with the here and now, it is easier. I found that by trying to just focus on the here and now that my mind was clearer. I figured if I had limited time left that I wanted to be able to enjoy some of it.
