The lemon barley may help your taste of the metal however not much does. Regarding the juices I am an advocate of juices and my wife has been taking them for 2 years and I believe they have kept her very healthy. She will have at least 2 - 3 glasses a day of different juices. eg carrot , or mix of carrot beetroot and celery, or maybe a fruit mix. This all came from a retreat with Dr Ian Gawler and I can attest that after the 10 day retreat and eating healthy she looked fantastic and felt fantastic. She now goes on a retreat at least twice a year. Good luck.

I would also like to convey my thanks and back up Kates comments. This site is such a wonderful tool to have ie: other people with similar experiences that we can all learn and give advice to. I will be looking forward to the carers website coming online as well to ensure all carers have a forum network to discuss ideas and concerns and offer each other support. It would also be great if there was a space on the website to ask questions and get answers from professionals. We all know you can not get give specific answers as each case is different however it would be a terriffic learning tool. Steve

I truly believe that take the stress out of your life and eating healthy is the start to fighting back. I have seen the results of my wife on return from retreats at Dr Ian Gawler in Melbourne and see the spring in her step. This retreat was for cancer sufferers and their carers. During the retreats 10 days was the first one ( 5 day refresher retreats after that) you learn to meditate to seperate the stress from your life and to eat healthy including vegetable juices to ensure you get the right intake of required vitamins minerals and anti oxidants during and after any chemo treatments. I am sure other retreats like the Petrea King and those similar would give the same benefits. Has anyone else been on this type of retreats and had similar life changing results? I would be interested to know what retreats and where they were.

Thought I would set up this thread of discussion as I know the forums are set up for individual Diagnosis types however I believe that there are many Advanced Breast cancer sufferers and carers who would like to share their ideas, questions, fears and support to the wider group. I am a carer and my wife has had advanced breast cancer now for just over 2 years after it was picked up in the chest and the liver. She is ER+PR+ Her2neu and for the first 12 months was on hormonal treatment (letrozole). When this failed she has been on xeloda and Avastin for 14 months with a partial response (in other words medically the growths have reduced by more than 30%). The biggest issue I have as a carer is getting the right information to ensure the best result for my wife and quality of life. I believe the best way is through forums like this where you can share your experiences and support each other.

Lottie, I am sorry to hear the news of your non hodgkins lymphona travelling to the liver. I do not know much about non hodkins lymphona however my wife has had breast cancer in the liver for just over 2 years and is living with the disease which is presently stable. She has gone through hormonal treatment and has been on chemo the past So to me your question of is it the end....I say there is a battle ahead and being stage iv it is probably not curable however have faith as we have met many people who have survived many years with disease in the liver.
