Had mastectomy thurs 20th april for grade 3 idc. Was meant to have the mastectomy and sentinel node checked. When i saw surgeon next morning i asked about the incision as it went much further under my armpit. He said that he ended up taking several as they looked suspicious? Anyway thats not my real question. The physio gave me a booklet about arm care for the side that sone auxillary nodes were taken and i was stunned. It referred to LONG TERM care of the arm eg no blood tests, no blood pressure cuffs, avoud mosquito bites!!, use a thimble when sewing. Avoid dry skin in case ir cracks and creates an opening, dont wear tight bra straps and on and in. Surely this is overkill???

I had my mastectomy for grade 3 idc on thursday. Certainly more painful than i hoped but that shouldnt scare others, as likely on due to being on regular morphine for years has made me over tolerant to pain relief. My question or confusion follows. Why am i in so much pain that tuny movements hurt and yet to touch the area my whole cgest and underarm are dead as. No sense of surface touch at all. Is this normal and does the feeling return?

woops hang on, that must be a different group as the one at Sumptuous cafe meets at 6pm, which is another bit of a prob being in the nursing home, their silly early routines. I have spoken to Donna or Libby, cant remember which. Lately my short term memory has gone, overload I think.

HI Kym, I did locate a support group in Orange but they meet at a place called Sumptcious and it has no wheelchair access. I did find an informal group in Ornage called chickchat and have been chatting with some members through messenger. This is such a wonderful site here in so many ways, this and BCNA have been my life vest!

topic says ILC but I know now its IDC. As I said am grade and having my mastectomy next week. I was thinking, becuase I have become paranoid and have always tended towards anxiety, which is now on a really high scale lol, that I would even ask for chemo; he would prpbably think I was mad! but honestly I dont think I will handle the checking my left breast EVERY night, I kid you not, I even took a photo of it today so I had a comparison for any visual changes, now thats extreme madness. I really want to speak up and just say, throw the whole book at me, I dont care how I feel, when its done its done and nothing can be as bad as the mental anguish!

Hi all, im not really replying to anyone but I thought here was where I should post my question. I was told that the cancer council site had a list of the support groups in various areas, but I havent found one in Orange NSW, does anyone know about this? Online is great but I still feel really isolated due to my very indiviudal situation ie Im a paraplegic also and although young, well too young to be in a nursing home, I am in one, and so I feel so isolated I would like to physically meet people in the area with cancer or after cancer. I dont know anyone really in the area either, my family are not close by and I didnt have a choice of the nursing home ie I would have opted for one near home but it wasnt available at the time regards and thoughts to all bev ps invasive ductal carcinoma, stage unknown yet as JUST diagnosed, only know high grade on Nottingham scale. Mastectomy on the 20th of this month, so really would love to connect with a group before then
