Wishing you and your mum all the best. It's hard.    No direct experience. But my husband was recently diagnosed with bowel cancer which as spread to his peretoneum, liver, and lungs. The peretoneum tumours caused really uncomfortable ascites, but they were able to manage these with regular taps (drains). So if her belly swells up and is uncomfortable, don't wait around like we did - there is treatment available, ask them about it. My husband also had a port inserted and is getting his chemo through there. The port has been fantastic. My condolences.  I'm at the start of a similar journey with my husband recently diagnosed with late-stage bowel cancer and caring for two kids. I don't have the experience out the other end yet. But I wanted to say hi and good luck.  I've found the journey so far very difficult. Especially navigating care for my husband, dealing with my own feelings, while looking after and supporting my children through this. I'm starting to learn that there is no right way, it's just muddling through one step at a time. Hi sch,  Thanks and yes the waiting is really hard. And we're still going with it. Hopefully getting results and more of a plan on Monday.  We know already that he has stage 4 colorectal cancer, just waiting for exact details and what any treatment might look like. He's pretty sick and so far no one is doing anything until the oncologist sees him again, so I'm hopeful that they will at least be able to do something to help with his comfort. ... View more

Hi Gayle, Glad to hear your husband is going well post surgery and that it hasn't spread to his liver or lungs. Those are all great signs! My husband went in for another biopsy today and then we should have the meeting with the oncologists in another week or so to find out the plan. Hi, I just wanted to reply and let you know you're not alone in this. My husband was diagnosed last week with metastatic colorectal cancer, he spent 4 days in the hospital having tests and getting the diagnosis and those covid restrictions meant I couldn't visit.
