As you all know my dad has cancer and I have been trying to get him to move down with me but NO success. I feel he is getting worse every day and I feel so helpless as I don't know what to do anymore. And to make matters worse I am having colonoscopy for bowel cancer on Thurs and last night I found out my sister in law has advanced breast cancer and has to have mastectomy in 2 weeks( my brother has already lost his first wife to a brain cancer). Does it ever stop. I have gotten to the stage where when the phone rings I fear answering it as there is possibly bad news!!. I really don't know how to cope anymore.

Fate seems to pursue some people more than others, is it because you are meant to be strong enough to go through it? I doubt it, I think it is just the luck of the draw. You just happen to be particularly unlucky. I don't think there is anything you can do except go through it and hope something good comes out at the other end. I must be so hard for you, but you need to concentrate on yourself first and make sure YOU are ok because you cannot be there for your dad in the same way if you are sick yourself. I wish you courage. s

Hi Chris, I know where you are coming from. By the time I was diagnosed in 2007 I had lost one great friend at 52, had another diagnosed at 49 the same week that friend no.1 died.He died in 2008. When I had just about finished treatment another friend was diagnosed with brain tumours. He subsequently died last October. I still struggle that these friends, at relatively young ages , suffered and died and I survived. Don't get me wrong, I am extremely grateful that I am alive but I still often shed a tear for those who didn't make it. The last 5 years have really made me question fate and any number of other philosophical issues. It is really hard. I hope your colonoscopy was OK. S
