A big thank you

How great to find 2 replies to my new entry and what a blessing to communicate with people with similiar problems . My family is worth their weight in gold BUT I don't want to burden them all the time (or some) so having friends alike makes such a big difference for me many thanks and I will update my IT as my daughter calls it (cancer) very soon, off for 2nd chemo session talk soon. This week.....patience and questions

So- we are waiting to hear back from Prof about treatment options.....maybe nothing, maybe more surgery? But our main goal is still pain management. Why does he get pain? Why does it last so long somedays and others it responds to medication? Why is Panamax sometimes the most effective pain medicine? Why is it that sometimes it doesn't work at all? Why does it keep him in bed for days at a time? Why can't he always feel good? What is the cause of the pain?

Newcomer trying to get it right

Found this great site joined and posted a very jumbly letter about the lack of good communication between the medical fields am glad I did so after reading people with the same thoughts. We were at last and only after becoming annoyed (?) told as close as was possible about my length of time, this at least gives me some scope on what I would like to fulfill with my family and friends ,my husband always says that there is one thing consistant in life and that is change oh boy is he right!

A great few days

Although a lot of living with cancer is crap, there are some good times to be had. Living with cancer is responsible for changing peoples thinking, re-prioritising what they want to spend their time doing. Last Wednesday I had the most wonderful opportunity to attend the home birth of my best friends third baby. As soon as I got the call (in true birth fashion, 5am!) I was in the car, slipping and sliding down to Bega from Canberra, a 3 hour trip, only to get a little surprise when I arrived. That the baby was born after only 2 hrs labour!

Got a bit more than we bargained for on Friday (or less, in reality)

Mum was due for her oncology appointment on Friday. We were expecting to learn about the chemo schedule that would follow (either in combination with radiation or, fingers crossed, with the surgery). I could tell immediately that something was wrong. She had pity in her eyes. The eyes told it all. Then she started asking Mum what she knew about her cancer. I felt myself get hot and then faint at the same time.
