“What are you doing here?” rang out as my oncologist and I walked across the foyer of the treatment centre. The enquiry came from a nursing acquaintance who had not expected to see me. It was an unanticipated visit; my blood levels were accelerating skywards. My oncologist quietly answered for me - “Sailor’s been misbehaving”. Later that day, unsure as to what would happen, what tests were to be done, what treatment would be offered - that statement rankled. It seemed my cancer had returned, that was not my fault, I was not guilty. I had not been misbehaving!

I thought I would put this out there to get an idea of how many of us YAC spent to much time being misdiagnosed, you know we are way to young to have cancer it must be something else... So I'll start with my story...

Hi This is my first blog, I have attended a training session and I am also employed with CC. I organise a craft and book club and also debrief the volunteers from a Cancer Council Information Centre. I used to work supporting family workers who supported families in crisis. I did organise a group for Motherless Mums and I did find that group a challenge as many of these Mums had very sad stories about the reason they had no contact with their Mothers.
