I tend to go with the flow with my emotions, or at least i try to. i refuse to think that there is something wrong with me when most of what we feel is just natural and normal. 🙂 Awww am sorry to read that your son has had such a reaction to the chemo so early. Can you talk to the onco's and get them to change some medications for him? They are pretty good at making life easier for us, if they know. Your son may or may not want to access help. He may find canteen a good thing to access, even if he looks at a website just so he knows what is out there. But, he is young ... it is such a huge thing being diagnosed neverlone being someone so young. We have a few young ones on this website and they are great. Hey Teach Glad to hear you had a blast!! Sorry to hear about the student and yes that sort of thing haappens sadly. I went to a funeral today of a man who was 49 and he just died in his sleep. I think the thing with all of this is finding a balance in our thoughts. There are people that do die from cancer but alternatively there are a heck of a lot of people who survive. My first cancer that i was diagnosed with i was given a month to live or perhaps x amount of years. They didnt know and it was really a case of "time will tell" and yet when they rang me with some results from my clear out operation the news was not good according to them. 3 out of 18 nodes were infected. Well, i said to the surgeon that called ... tyvm but i will take those odds. There was a somewhat stunned silence on the phone, so i went on to explain to them. I said "you could have run me and told me that more than that were infected, so ty i will take that and run with it". Sure it took some time for every little ache or cramp to not be thought about as cancer in my head, it does happen though. I think we also need to be realistic with ourselves too. In that its actually ok to be sad because really we have something to be sad about, once again the trick is to not stay there!! Hi Julie Apologies for not replying sooner, i have been in a bit of a hole lately, am back out again now. :) Glad to hear you got back ok. Alex will be ok, he will come to terms with things in his own time. If you get worried that he isnt dealing then you could perhaps point him in the direction to get some help. The Cancer Council has a great support system in place. I think that the hospitals and social workers can access alternatives for you also, if that suits more. When i was diagnosed with my first cancer which was amelanotic melanoma, the oncologist that treated me was highly regarded int he world for his work. So much so that he DID have patients coming from america to see him and see what he could do with them. This time i am under another very clever oncologist who gets great results, highly regarded throughout australia. My neurologist that i had for my ms, once gain highly regarded through australia. No idea where they trained, i just know they keep fixing me and for that i am thankful and grateful. I agree with Vanessa, this is a sensitive subject and for those people who are currently being treated. You do need to be able to believe in your team and i think most do, i know that i do. ...
