I saw my Oncologist yesterday. Well I thought I would get good news, but he took the wind out of my sails I'm afraid. My liver is in decline. there are new lesions and some of the others have grown abit. Looking at options for 2nd round of treatment now. will see Dr. in two weeks time for these options.
Hubby and I have decided to take off for a few days to a week, just get in the car and go somewhere, wherever the wind takes us so to speak. no plans just cruise and enjoy the journey while its there. A day at a time. What else can we do.
I also went shopping today. A little retail therapy is always good for the soul. I have been looking at getting a new camera for a while and the one I was looking at was on a major special at the local camera store. It is a Canon 1000D slr. Twin lens kit. Only an amateur hobby photographer here. Will learn how to use it as I go.. LOL. Dont know if anyone out there is familiar with this camera, I think I got a good one.

Hi Maddie
I went on stress/sick leave a few years ago from a job that was treating me really bad and bullying. My experience is that if you go see your GP and explain whats happening, they can give you certificates etc. I used up all my sick leave and then resigned in the end anyway. This way I got to use up my entitlements first. You are still getting paid while you go look elsewhere.
Are you entitled to be recognised as a Defacto relationship? for government benefits, not sure how that works to do that though. most centrelink agencies have a social worker who may be able to advise you.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Vicki.

I finished chemo 6 cycles on Thursday . I have a break now for who knows how long. I get more scans next week and see oncologist the week after. then monitoring every 2 months at this stage. PICC line came out as well on thursday.
So I feel free for a while. Cancer lesions are still there but hopefully have shrunk more since last scan as well.
My main concern is the cancer will suddenly spring back into growth once the chemo stuff is not there to hold it back. Guess everyone gets that too. Cant dwell on that though. Will deal with that if it happens. Now if I can keep up these thoughts everyday.
I plan on doing what I can when I can. I made a list of things I would like to do. I wouldnt mind a hot air balloon ride. I am scared of heights, and would be terrified , but I think it is something I could have a go at. My hubby and I are planning on travelling through the year, just in Australia. Depending on how health goes. Kids to visit in Cairns, and Newcastle. Perth sounds like a lovely spot to see and maybe Tasmania as well.
So I could say look out life here I come. :)
Stay safe and positive
Cheers

Hi Rebecca,
The song "some days are diamonds" is a John Denver song. The rest of the song is a bit melancholy I'm afraid. I just like those two lines which are part of the chorus.

Hi Swim,
I had numbness in my hands and lower legs while on chemo. I finished chemo yesterday so I am hoping these symptoms will fade. I did have suggestion that to elevate your legs could help. They reduced my chemo strength several weeks ago and I seemed to get a little more strength then.
So I am not sure I am much help. It was a side effect of chemo for me and have to just wait it out.
Hope it comes good for you
43 degrees celsius here today to take out the old year 2010. I hope you all in a cool spot.
Cheers

Well I had my first fall yesterday. Came a crashing down flat on my face. I am ok but gave us all a big scare. It happened so quickly, don't remember falling, just landing on my nose. Lucky nothing is broken. A bit of bruising on my nose. Legs just went from under me as I got up to walk. Tried to move to fast I think. not concentrating on my feet. Been very careful since then, Lost a little bit of confidence, using walking stick around the house again.
Went out shopping with the kids today and bought myself a new TV. Can watch the cricket on a big telly now. Not that Australia are doing exceptionally well at the moment. LOL.
Happy New Year to you all
Take Care

Merry Christmas to you all. I do hope you are blessed with lots of loved ones around you at this time.
I had two lots of really good news today just in time for christmas. Apart from health wise, in which things are going well. I applied recently for early release of my superannuation under the terminal illness provision. I got a cheque for one today and a confirmation phone call from the other one as well that it is being direct deposited today. Both will take several working days to clear but they are there and should be accessible by new years eve. woohoo. Look out post Christmas sales.. hehehehe
Bless you all for the wonderful words that have helped enormously in the past few months.
A kind deed sends out a ripple that you just never know where it will reach
Cheers

The scan shows All clear on major organs (except Liver of course). So no clues as yet as to what is causing the pain. Could be the lesions creating pressure on the liver capsule creating referred pain. or I could have pulled a ligament or muscle, we don't know. Bumped up the strength on the pain killers.
Cheers
