Next week i am due to have my first scan after finishing treatment. I have been feeling good and was hopeful for a good outcome from the scan. I have been tired but that is due to not sleeping properly and also being a lot busier with life in general. Until yesterday!! I woke up and my left shoulder was very painful and left arm quite painful also. Today i ended up at emergency because it was worse and they did an xray which apparently shows a lump that they cant explain. So next week the stakes are a little higher when i have this scan done. Now here cmes the hard part in trying not to stress too much. I hate stressing about something that might not happen and yet i need to be mindful about what might be. Feeling a tad of nothing at the moment which is good, just hope i can maintain that.

Hi Jules2 I am with you on this one. Due in a few weeks to have another round of blood tests, see my medonc and probably have more scans towards the end of March. Last round of bloods was up a bit, so I am twitchy. Haven't had any of the other symptoms that I associate with the beast returning, until a couple of nights ago, I'm lying in bed and there it is, the dull pain that I associate with it coming back. Haven't had it since, but it has upped the ante a tad. So I am with you all the way on this one! My Chief of Domestic Operations tells me that I am more difficult that usual to live with in the weeks before tests are due, so clearly whilst I might claim not to be stressing the CDO knows otherwise. Hope that you can maintain the 'feeling a tad of nothing' for the next few days and find something good, cheerful and restful to occupy your mind - some good diversion therapy. Cheers Sailor Give me a spirit that on this life's rough sea, loves t' have his sails filled with a lusty wind. George Chapman

Hey Sailor Ohhhh dear ... must be something in the water!!!! The mind, the mind ... such a powerful thing. Harnessed in the right way its good but let it run in the wrong direction and uhoh!! I hope you also can find some peace of mind and a bit of diversion too Sailor. 🙂 I will be taking my son with me up to perth and am sure that is going to be a diversion as it will be his first time driving in the city. Cheers to you also. Julie

Hi I hope everything is ok with the tests.....It's a buggar isn't it.....I lull myself at times into a false sense of security ...then I wake at night with the chest pains which keep me awake and I wonder ....is this it ...does this mean 'its back' I have had a painful shoulder too recently and a lot of unexplainable aches and pains ....it is a constant worry. I know how you feel. I have a request slip from my oncologist for a scan but I haven't done anything about it. Stay strong and continue to think the positive thoughts. Maybe hard to do but try to get out there and do something for you before the scan ....a massage, or a day somewhere nice in the sun. I like just sitting soaking up the sun these days.....it makes me feel ok about things for a little while. Take care, I will be thinking of you next week ...please let us know how you go. All the best, Willow xo

Hi Willow Thanks so much. Not sure I will have time to do the massage thing before the scan but certainly afterwards and actually you have given me a thought. I may be able to book myself in at charlies for some natural therapy. The shoulder is still very sore today but a little easier i think. How are things for you at the moment? Do you think you will have your scan done soon? I had a bit of a giggle yesterday. Thinking it would be right that i finallty get hair long enough to lose the chemo look and i might lose it all again. :) ok back to spring cleaning. Thanks once again. Julie xoxo

Hey Jules,So glad you are getting your results straight away. Will be thinking of you Thursday. We go back to Oncologist Thursday as well to see what treatment they are going to do next. Partner has been off chemo 3 weeks as finished intravenous chemo and was awaiting results from angiogram to see if they were going to give SIRT radiation directly into liver. They have decided not to do this for two reasons. One is they said their is very little disease left in the liver (thats the good news) but also as he has some disease in the peritoneum and lymph nodes near vertebrae (thats the BUT) he has to go on second line chemo for that.We think this will be tablet form with 1 hour of Avistin intaveneously every 3 weeks and if this is the case we will go buy our motorhome and start to travel. Wedding plans are all done just waiting for the day. Also first grandchild is due today in Adelaide so eagerly awaiting daughter-in-laws labour starting. Once again prayers, love and thoughts to you on Thurs. Gail xx

Hey Gail Ohhhhh such great news re the grandy due today!!! Let us know???? I will be leaving tomorrow as i have a dental appointment in perth also. Hey do you guys get treated in Bunbury or do you go to perth also? I thought you had finished with the wedding, just couldnt remember properly. doh! lol Sorry bout that!! It is amazing what they can do these days to either fix the problem or gain more time. My sis in law was telling me of her and my brothers plan to buy a motorhome and travel. They will just get a unit in bunbury and then go to and fro from there. Good on them i think and maybe i can borrown the motorhome in between times. Havent shared that one with them juts yet. hahaha Actually i have to go ask them if i can borrow "Karen" she tells everyone where to go when they get lost. lol I am going to need it cos am hopeless in perth. Despite spending two months up there, unless i actually drive i take no notice where i am going. Ooops :D Good luck with the news on the grandy ... wow ... i cant imagine what that must feel like having to wait for news like that. How delightful!! hugss Julie xo

Hi Jules,(and Sailor) Just caught up on this. I have 6 monthly bloods next week and even though I am pretty certain I am fine, the niggle is always there. Sailor's shadow lurking in the room. Every time my bowel behaves a little oddly (as it is bound to do) my brain goes into hyperdrive despite having a clean colonoscopy 6 months ago. Even heart burn sends my brain whirring! I hope that the shoulder is fine and that all will be well. To all of us, as the test time approaches take deep breaths and face it squarely in the face. Not much else we can do, is there? Take care everyone, S

Hi everyone ... Just to let you all know my scans came back clear. The lump turns out not to be bone, pet scan indicates it is more likely to be muscle or tendon. So an xray in 6 weeks is required to keep an eye on that bit. The rest of the bits they scanned were all fine. One down!! Julie xo

Hiya babe, Finally got the internet working at home rather than sneaking it in at work shhhhhh! Good to hear that the results are coming through ok 🙂 Keep at it, you are a champ!!! 🙂 It never ends does it, but at least we have each other to walk this hilarious path - and it is hilarious, on the point of insanity really! Hi Ms movie star!!! Well done to you! Very brave. Great to see your results are good. Is the interview going to be on TV? News, current affair program, in-house training???? Oops, I just re-read your stuff and realized gps probably means general practitioners!!! For a moment I was thinking global positioning system and it just wasn't making sense to me!!!! Hope that gives you a giggle! Jill xo

lol Jill ... That did give me a giggle, thank you! The video is for in house training. They are doing road shows going around rural west aus and trying to educate gps (non global .. lol) and also patients can benefit from it also. I have been speaking to a few patients who are affected with this sort of cancer. One guy i was speaking to ws really down in the dumps, poor fellow. Julie xo

Great news Jules, and a TV start to boot.Woohoo Cancer does sometimes make us do things we may not have otherwise have done. I went to New York!! Bloods etc next week. My turn on this site to be a bit anxious but all should be good. That's how it seems to me. We all just take turns on this merry-go-round. Oh well. S

Hey Samex ... Good luck with the coming week. I just tried to stay in a neutral place, which was difficult but i think i achieved it. Although i am a bit like sailor in that i am not affected but the rest of the household feels it. I do try to keep to myself a bit around this time so i dont upset people but my son just pushed a few too many issues on the day we had to drive up to perth. Ooops! lol hugsss to you and let us know how you go? Julie xo
