After I had my operation I had to have some CT scans to make sure the cancer had not spread. I also had to wait about a week before the results from the pathology tests had come. Waiting is hard at times, but when the results finally came, it was a relief in some ways because I knew what I was up against. http://www.thecancerstory.com/2011/09/part-8-uncertainty-relief.html

This evening my bright little 6 year old daughter who is in the top reading group in her class, sat and stared at her home reader and grumpily refused to even sound out words she could easily manage or to think about them related to the pictures etc as they are meant to do. And I am ashamed to say I got really cranky with her for not trying - my husband is still at work even now (8:30pm) thanks to some horrible deadlines he cannot escape, and I feel like I am not keeping all the balls in the air. After having my orchiectomy. I spent the next two weeks resting, and reflecting on everything that was happening. It was hard at times because I was waiting for the results of the biopsy to come through. When I finally had the call from the urologist, I was happy, even though the news was not the est, but I had answers, and I could finally prepare myself for the next few months. http://www.thecancerstory.com/2011/08/part-7-r-r-rest-reflection.html

Yesterday my partner was doing well. He even helped me cleaning up in the kitchen for the first time in the past few months. Today he has been feeling tired and in the afternoon he told me he felt really weird and all a bit shaky while in bed under doona. I hold him and played with his head for a bit and he felt a bit better. We thought it might be the new chemo he's on. I let him sleep and around 6 p.m. I went to check whether he wanted something to eat. He couldn't say anything apart from yes, no, probably, well, not yet, don't know.

We knew it was coming but it still came as a shock. My wife’s liver cancer is not responding to treatment, the tumors have grown yet again and her oncologist has run out of types of chemotherapy to try. We were told when the secondary cancer in her liver was discovered almost 12 moths ago that the outlook was grim, but as long as treatment continues you still have some hope. Last Monday, my wife asked the question she has never wanted to ask before: how long? Three months was her oncologist’s estimate. Three months!
