Well it is to be a busy week this week coming up, Surgeon on Monday to get results of biopsies,and endoscopy. Hopefully we will be more aware of how the tumor is progressing and if it has spread further.Then Thursday to his local Doctor to update him on where we are at, the on Friday to The Cancer Care Unit at Nepean Hospital to meet with team and discuss I presume Chemo etc.

Just read in the November,2011 Readers' Digest where dogs were tested for their ability to sniff out cancers.Five dogs were used in a study in the US and Poland. There was a control group who were healthy and 86 lung and breast cancer patients. The dogs' accuracy levels ranged from 88% to 97%.I n other studies two German Shepherds,an Australian Shepherd and a Labrador correctly sniffed out lung cancer in 71% of 220 patients.Dogs have also been able to detect colon cancer. My husband of 40 years was just diagnosed with eosphageal cancer,we were six months into retirement and travelling around Australia in our caravan,he just started to have a bit of trouble swallowing and put it down to eating too fast, after a couple of months it got worse and he was vomiting his food soon after eating, then started to lose weight.I made him go to a Doctor in far North Queensland,and it was suggested we return to a bigger town to get a complete diagnoses,well we did, and that is where it all happened,the Surgeon then suggested we return to our home town in Sydney as they had be

I have just got though 11 months of chemotherapy and it was he'll, however I managed it really well mentally and now I feel flat, scared and lonely. I also had my humerous bone in my right arm replaced and have had 8 months of physiotherapy and I still can't lift my arm and I'm finding it so hard to motivate my self to continue with the exercises. I'm just feeling flat and can't seem to get out of it.

Looking at or smelling chemotherapy drugs don't make you feel sick; they have to be inside the body to cause nausea and vomiting. And this doesn't involve the stomach (well, not at first, the vomiting bit is all stomach), it involves the small intestine. Because cells lining the small intestine are particularly sensitive to chemotherapy drugs.
