my partner was told he is going to have radiation to shrink his bowel tumor before surgery, for six weeks every single day! he also has to take his chemo bottle home and wear that for five days... can anyone tell me the side effects of radiation? does it work?

I had two items of news from my oncologist yesterday and neither of them were good. My treatment regime for multiple myeloma doesn't seem to be doing anything as the protein reading is still rising. So we'll give it one more three week course and in the meantime he'll investigate another option. I have stem cells stored away for moments like these.

hi lm reni'a, l have a Question to ask, And lm hoping someone can help me with it, l have stage 3 Triple Negative Breast cancer, it was very large when l found the lump,After having my breast removed, l found out it hadnt spread past the breast, But l was told l had to do chemo.l just couldnt cope with doing chemo.its been 12 mths now. l cant find any information on how likely my cancer is too come back, since l didnt do chemo. What my chances are.

I totally freaked out last week. I was at the doctor's and it happened to be exactly twelve months since my diagnosis. When I mentioned this to him he said "Things were looking pretty grim for you this time last year, we weren't sure whether it would be your last Christmas..." Well, I was stunned. He had been telling me all these positive stories about other patients who had survived 20 years, 30 years and so on, and I had pinned my hopes onto these stories, believing that I would be fine once I had some treatment.

let me start by telling you a bit, in march this year i went to the docs about a freckle on my neck, he referred me to a dermatologist who did a biopsy, then rang me back a week later to say it was a malignant melanoma and had to be removed, fine job done, then in may i had op on bum to remove growths on inside of bum cheek only to be told anal squomous cell carcinoma, 6 weeks of radiation followed and am on the mend now and see my speciallist next week for hopefully good news.

Well it is not exactly the latest and yet it still is sticking in my throat. Whilst seeing someone from a govt department with regards to my seeking new employment it was mentioned that "you can't exactly ... well ummm you know ... ummm .... guarantee that you are going to be around *insert fade away to nothing here* .........................." Then we quickly moved on to something else when I think she heard what she had said. I was a tad gob smacked over this one.
