Most women will tell you that men really don't look after their health that well and well, my husband is no exception. I guess most of us feel that we are invincible or perhaps, we don't want to hear bad news if we do dig further. Whatever the reason, I'm so glad I listened to my intuition and nagged the bejesus out of Rob to go get checked. Back in May, Rob started to complain of abdominal cramps that came and went. Instantly, I sort of bristled and told him to go see his GP. 'Nah, I'll be fine - it's probably just some indigestion', he said.

wow its now 11 days down and 17 to go. still feelin ok within myself so that's good. i am expecting my husband this weekend so i am so excited about that. just wish he could bring the rest of the family and the grandies. i have a long weekend this weekend as they service the machine so i dont have to go back until Tuesday. will be nice to have a break. cheers Jodielee (Linda)

My husbands diagnosise for bowel cancer back on March 3rd 2009 was pretty devasting, with statistics looking very much on the side of cancer. He immediately decided he was going to die and cried everyday for 10 days straight. In the end I got mad and let him have it (the best approach? Not sure about that but it worked). 'I may not be Kylie Minogue, but your not getting out of this marriage that easily sunshine!' I put up photos of the girls in his room to look at everyday and had one of his friends or work mates come in daily to break up the monotony and so I could go home for a shower.

It came as a shock, then as a bit of confusion - I get the connection, some cancers are more "socially acceptable" I suppose, but SEXY??? I just keep remembering when my hair started falling out and I was having a particularly "up chuck" day - so there I was in hospital, connected to the chemo pump, going bald and my boyfriend (who later decided it was too much after all) holding the cardboard emesis basin under my chin for 3 hours!! I am already 8 days down with Radiation and 20 to go. all is well so far with the skin and i am feeling well. being from the country has made it really hard for me as i miss my family so much. my husband came for the weekend an it was wonderful to see him. i only wish he could stay all the time. he is so busy with work. it has been very hard on him as well. i am looking forward to his next visit. the internet has been a blessing as i have be able to keep intouch with my grandies and kids as well. cheers
