Here is an excerpt from Lance Armstrong's Its not about the bike. It is a book that got me through my week of hell, from diagnosis to treatment and this particular 'bit' rang true for me. The reference can be found at the bottom of this blog. “The truth is that cancer was the best thing that ever happened to me. I don’t know why I got the illness, but it did wonders for me and I wouldn’t wnat to walk away from it. Why would I want to change, even for a day, the most important and shaping event in my life?

Last night I had a dream. I dreamt we were back at the house we used to live in. The nursery where both children used to sleep, and where I had my rocking chair was haunted. There was a ghost called Claudia that lived in there, with the door closed. No matter what I would do as I knew she was there, but she would never come out, always darting about the place, always unseen and always with the Nursery door closed.

Rather than re-telling the story of my journey - I have attached the original e-mails, snippets of conversation diarising and outlining my journey. In between the lines there was desperation, and inspiration, there was comfort found in Lance Armstrong's "Its not about the bike" which is now, by far, one of my favorite books. There were songs, and there were conversations. There were visits to the psychologist and chats with family.

Hi, To all our wonderful supporters. Thank you all for your words of compassion at my darkest hour. It was wonderful and comforting to know were all there for one another.

Craftyone is a little sad today. After more than half my life dealing with cancer in my family (including hers 9 years ago), there is yet another family member dying from this insidious disease. I has lost my mother and two brothers and am now going to lose a niece. The majority of my family - mother, all her four children and 4 out of 5 grandchildren - has or had a "bad" gene and it has decimated it. My biggest comment now is that if you have one of these "bad" genes, don't let it beat you.

Ninth Floor Haematology and Oncology ward, one of two lead lined rooms. My first view of it was when I woke up after the anaesthetic from the morning, it was about 4.30 and I had gone into theatre at 8 for a half hour procedure. Somehow I had lost a day!
