Hi Tommi, Welcome to this online community. It's a great spot to let your feelings out. Nobody wants to go through this shit called cancer, but unfortunately, it happens. We all get angry & sad, frustrated & looking for something to blame it on, but believe it or not, it's not the end of the world. Life does go on, especially for our loved ones. Your son's life has changed, not necessarily been ruined. Talk about it with him now & as things progress. I am grateful for each & every day I wake up, because it means I have another day to share with my family. It's a matter of perspective. Find positive things in your days instead of looking at all the negatives. Even if there is only 1 positive thing. Sometimes there are just too many negatives & if that's all you focus on then depression can quickly set in. Remember there are people to download to as well. Use them! 🙂 I wish you & your family the best. Budgie

Hi Fergs, It's great the Sutent has been working for you for so long. Hopefully, you will have just as good results on your next line of treatment. All these drugs we take to give us more time -if we're on them for so long, who knows exactly what they do to our bodies. It's no wonder the body kicks up a bit of a stink every now & then. Take care 🙂 Budgie

Hello Bmck, Life is too short & unfortunately, isn’t always pleasant. Things happen & people, being normal people get hurt. Sometimes we just have to live with that. Sometimes the rift is too great to mend even if a loved one is dying. Often though, it takes a death to jolt us into looking for answers & starting to talk, but by then of course, it’s too late. Even though it’s an emotional situation that shouldn’t stop you from talking normally about it. For your sake, I hope you’re family can put aside their differences & get on with living. Budgie

Hi pdjones I’m sorry for the loss of your mother. On top of everything you are doing for your wife, it would be very stressful for you. It sounds like you need someone to talk to & is there anyway that you can get some time to yourself? My husband is my carer & he works full time. I worry about him alot. He is the type of person who never sits still & can handle stress quite well, but I do wish he would take time off from looking after me. There are are some good support services out there too. Perhaps you could find someone to talk to & download some of that grief. I hope things go well with the trial your wife is going on. All the best wishes Budgie

Hi Jess1, I am very sorry for your loss. It’s not easy losing someone you love. I was at my mothers bedside when she died 9 years ago & I still see it all so vividly. Time helps to ease things but I know that talking helps too. It can’t do any harm if you do see a consellor. It might put your mind at rest. Wishing you all the best Budgie

Hi there Missy78, Welcome to this forum as it is a good place to vent. I hope your pain is under control now. Sometimes, for me, I think I can handle anything life throws at me as long as there is no pain. Anyway... If I may offer a word of advice with your little ones - tell them everything that's going on with you. If you explain it to them in a way they can understand, their minds will figure out a way to cope. My sister had 5 children, but she decided to keep them sheilded from her cancer. They knew she was sick, but they didn't ever get told about what was actually happening. So when she died, that turned out to be a mistake for some of them, as they've have had alot of problems coping with the loss of their mum. Think positive & I wish you all the best Budgie

Hi Paul_D, I have kidney cancer, & recently have had excruciating pain in my knees. I also have arthritis but my doctors can’t find a reason as to why my knees have flared up in so much pain. I’m still waiting for an appt with a rheumatologist, but my GP doesn’t think it will be rheumatoid related at all. Interestingly, last year I had both of my shoulders freeze up on me which was very painful & have only recently come good. Again, no one could tell me why. Unfortunately, I think it might just be the combination of all the drugs I’m taking along with the cancer just making my body rebel. Hope you can can find some relief. Take care Budgie

I thought I should add that these drugs are currently used for Renal Cell Carcinoma. I don’t know if they would be of any use for what your Aunt is going through. Budgie

Hi MariusNicholas, I am very sorry to hear of your Aunt’s illness, & I don’t know if I can be of much help to you as it sounds like a very stubborn form of cancer. In Australia there are a couple of treatments available that your Aunt hasn’t had. One is the immunotherapy treatment called Nivolumab, which is given intravenously. The other treatment is another oral tablet called Cabozantinib, which is only becoming available on the PBS in Australia from the 1st June. If you’re Aunt is in Norway, obviously I don’t know if these drugs are available there. I do wish your Aunt all the best with her treatment. Budgie

Hi Annette46, I was born in Newcastle, & I love the beaches around the area. I have 4 children; 1 in Canberra, 1 in Brisbane & 2 in Adelaide. So they are spread out a bit. I am still taking the Cabozantinib & it is definitely working for the soft tissue mets, but doesn’t seem to be for the bone mets. I am taking painkillers, but I might have to up the dose to get some control. I hope your bone bone scan comes up clear. Even if it doesn’t & you have to have spine surgery, you have a 90% chance of it working properly. That’s pretty good odds. 😁 Take care Budgie
