Hi Cam, sorry that your dad is so unwell. The docs can only give you an estimate of how much longer your dad has. My mum died last year, not cancer, but we had to stop all treatment and just do palliative care. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. The only positive was I got to say all that I needed to say in those last days. Hi Nathan. Yes I got my diagnosis over the phone. I think my doctor was sick but was still in contact with me. It was devastating to get the news over the phone but I don’t think it would have been any better in the surgery getting the news of cancer . Hello, so sorry about your diagnosis. Yes I can relate to how you’re feeling. I went from a lump in my neck which I thought was a swollen gland to lots of tests to the final diagnosis of non Hodgkin’s lymphoma. I also felt really well! I can relate to not being able to sleep and the anxiety in the beginning was horrendous. Once I started treatment I was a lot more settled and have just finished my last round of 6 chemo treatments and it has been successful. So I hope you feel better emotionally soon once the specialist puts a plan in place. Ring the cancer Council whenever you need to. They are so supportive.
