Hi Kate It can get tiring towards the end so accept any help with the children, housework etc. The bowels can become a bit loose and you might have some urgency to use them also. Hi Kate We have a group called gynaecological cancer that you can join on here. Go to groups up the top right of this page in the blue heading, click on that and you will see a list of groups. Scroll down to the gyny group and click on that and you can request to join the group. Some in the group had had cervical cancer. Hi Susie I was the same age as you when I was diagnosed with a rare type of cervical cancer. It is very overwhelming at first but just take each day at a time and try not to worry too much as stress doesn't help. I had a radical hysterectomy in October 2012 and have now been free of cancer for almost 3 years. Like GHT mentioned join the gyny group who are so supportive and have been through the same situation as you are going through now. Don't be afraid to ask any questions as someone will be able to answer you. I think the biggest problem we all have had after surgery is while taking pain killers they make you constipated so make sure they give you something for your bowels. It sure makes a difference having a wonderful husband and family to get you through the difficult time. My hubby and I have both had cancer also so we know what each other is going through. I am only 9 months from getting the horrible news and have just finished my treatment last month. We are both senior citizens too in our early 60's and been married 40 years. Hi Debbie I had a pap smear on 10 May 2012 and was told all was good but at end of July my doctor got a letter to say they had made a mistake with the pap smear test. We were away at the time and we came back at end of August. Had an ultrasound, d & c, Hysteroscopy in September then got referred to gynaelogical oncologist in October then had the op. My treatment sounds different to yours but if you go to groups up the top of the page you can request to join a gynaelogical cancer group which I am in and I know others in the group have had the treatment you are going to have. Hello Mine maybe different as I had a radical hysterectomy on 31 Oct 2012. They think it started in the cervix but it was in my ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus and cervix. I have 3 types of cells also and one type is a rare type called neuroendocrine. I have just completed 4 cycles of chemo cabo/taxol and will have a PET scan this month then maybe radiation depending on the results. I wish you all the best with your treatment. Cheers Robyn ... Hi Ria I am going through chemo at the moment also. It is hard when you are so used to being so active and on the go but hang in there as you are half way through. My husband had bowel cancer 3 years ago so we are going through it all again with me but just take each day as it comes and the day will come when you will feel better. It must be hard with small children and you would have to rely on other people to help you but just take the time to rest when you can. I find the first week is the worst then I feel better and can do small things. It is only temporary so just look forward to the end of your treatment and hopefully the time passes quickly for you. Hi Paula I am coping ok with the chemo apart from a few side affects but once the first week is over I feel ok. I have to have a PET scan after the last lot of chemo then will start radiation. I am more worried about the affects radiation will have on my bowels etc as others with gynaecological cancers have had problems with their bowels after radiation. I belong to 2 other groups in the cancer connections as I have 3 types of cells being Neuroendocrine, endometrial and serous. My father had bowel cancer also but when they operated it was everywhere in his body and sadly he died 2 weeks later. Hi Paula So sorry to hear of your father's setback after all was well after his surgery and treatment. My hubby had bowel cancer 3 years ago which spread into his bladder and 6 lymph nodes and he has a colostomy bag as well so I know what you have been through. So far he is going ok but there is always the thought it will come back somewhere and it is an anxious wait until his test results and CT Scans come through each time . Will be thinking of you all on monday when your father gets his results of the biopsy. I hope it all goes well for him. We just have to take each day at a time. I was also diagnosed with cancer in October last year and had surgery and now going through chemo and then will have radiation.
