Hi Vinouche, Please tell me how you are doing now & what sort of chemo you received ? I have unexpectedly just been diagnosed with SCC stage II. I'm being told my treatment plan is chemoradiation. (5Fu/Mitomycin+Radiation) for 5 weeks. I feel extremely fortunate that my CA was caught during a colonoscopy and is relatively small and early. I can only pray that it goes as smoothly and easily as yours but know not to expect easy when it comes to chemo & radiation. I'm also being told that this particular chemo doesn't cause much if any hair loss. I don't want to get my hopes up, but I am just searching for others who may have had this particular chemo regime. I want to be prepared mentally and also don't want to purchase unnecessary wig(s) if I truly don't need them. I sincerely hope you are thriving and living your best life. Best, Melissa

deejjay I can understand having just gone thru cancer myself and talking to my doctor having this illness has really changed my life and he agreed that it does. I look at it are some so called friendship really worth it. You really need supportive people around although some people can start being supportive they change and I think that is the time we need to change as I have recently. See my comments above I seem to being going thru the same thing like you are.

Hi Sophie,
I think the Breast Care Nurses at your local hospital will help.
I have two myself and will be contacting them.

Thank you for your kind words, yes the one good thing is we have time to say goodbye, I still think it is so hard for our carers to keep carrying on . I think it would be easier if the deterioration in health was gradual instead of one good one bad day. I have been on the other side too and I know it broke my heart to see my mum and dads like this, so to all you carers out there, we love you all and admire what you do for us.

Nice to hear from you Vinouche.
So glad you had such a wonderful time.
It’s great to have a break away from the regime of treatment and the constant thinking of cancer.
God bless your cherished friends in NZ.
Take care.

Hi Vinouche
Unfortunately there does not seem to be any scheme out there that will help with eyesight problems resulting from chronic illness. The dental scheme came about through a realisation that many people with a chronic illness just did not have the financial resources for dental work so their dental health was poor. If anyone out there does know of a scheme for eyesight, then please let us know.
Cheers

I too read blogs and am thankful for people sharing in here and privately and in my case real life.
My heart goes out to those who are not coping with their own diagnosis or having to go through the experience of losing a partner, sibling, parent ..........
@ cats ... i think you should remember that miracles do happen as do strange things. I was given a month to live and that was 21 years ago and i am still here. I had an unpredictable cancer but it can also be very deadly, hence the month given to me. Not wanting to offer anyone false hope or anything like that but it does happen.
@ samex ... i still cant remember that other brand of shoes ... its frustrating me! lol

Heyy S
It astounds me and worries me to the amount of people that are around that arent coping. Only because i hate to see people suffer but then i also believe that there is something wrong with so many people being let lose when all is not well in this particular area. I have seen people so depressed that it has affected their treatment. Something needs to be done and earlier intervention needs to occur imho.
