Tallypez, it's a huge thing to have a hysterectomy especially at your age. We have to be patient I suppose with people making awkward and thoughtless comments.  It took me a while to accept my diagnosis and prognosis and finally the news that my endometrial cancer had metastasised. Hi Nat, I hope you have been able to get some explanations from your GP, while you wait to see the Gyno again. It is difficult to stay positive whilst waiting for results, but it is better for the specialists to be certain about potential problems, rather than jumping to conclusions. I'm sure if the blood tests show any problems, then your gyno appt will be brought forward. I was 36yrs when diagnosed with early stage endometrial cancer, over 11yrs ago ... it is very scariest time, waiting to know if there is anything to be really be concerned about ... Hello Gill, I'm happy for you that you have found this site. In here, you don't have to be 'fine'. You can vent your frustrations, celebrate your memories and ask for support from people who understand what you have been through and what may lay ahead. If you think you or your children might benefit from talking with someone, the Cancer Council may be able to put you in touch with a councillor who specialises in cancer related issues in your area. Take each day as it comes and deal with things at your own pace. Dont be concerned if you are not ready to put things away. You will wake up one morning and just do it because you have allowed yourself time to process what has happened and you are ready to move to the next phase of your life. Hello, I wonder if anyone out there has a situation like mine? I've been caring 24/7 for my husband 73 yrs old tomorrow diagnosed with terminal GBM Nov 2011. I'm in early 60's and also caring for my granddaughter now 15. I was made her legal guardian several years ago. My granddaughter isn't coping with my husband dying and so as well as having his personality changes and duties to attend to, to keep him as happy and comfortable as possible, there is her mental health to consider plus juggling appointments and other commitments for both of them. I do well sometimes and I'm not looking for 'oh you poor thing' but lately am getting the familiar feeling of 'I'm falling apart and cope cope with this much longer, and how long can this go on?" I'm not impressed with man made religious organisations but I believe strongly in God and know He's there for me/us and a I did a Mindfulness Course last year at CancerCare which I highly recommend to anyone - though the only part I do every day is the breathing - and not for any length of time...Even this small thing helps enormously but I know I'm getting run down again. Money's becoming a big concern. Recently diagnosed with Hashimotos (auto immune disease) I take the medication and push myself to dress nicely, put makeup on when we go out to keep my spirits/self esteem up. People say 'Oh, you look lovely' or 'Your husband looks really well' not having a clue what's going on naturally. Anyway, what do others do when they feel like they're falling apart? ... View more

Hi As someone with Stage 4 Lung cancer I suffer from the same problem. I have travelled, since diagnosis, to Russia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Burma, Canada, America, France, Ireland, and got back from New Zealand yesterday. In June I am off to Germany and Hungary. And Leah is right. We can't get insurance for things related to our pre existing condition. It's a bummer but I just take the risk. And keep my fingers crossed. I have only ever been a public patient but I have always received a private room - largely I guess due to the fact they thought I was going to die. I have never experienced delays, although, once again both my cancers were rather urgent in nature once they were discovered and probably fair to say that both had not a great prognosis intially attached to either cancer. 25 years later for my first cancer and going on 5 years for the 2nd cancer. For my first cancer I also had a young baby at the time and I am sure that was part of why they gave me a private room.
