Hi all,
Thanks for your posts. This may be helpful information about Gumbi Gumbi, provided by Cancer Council Australia. I posted this last year on this thread, but wanted to offer the comments and resources again.
Cancer Council Australia has a website which looks at claims related to cancer treatment and assesses them scientifically. This is the page on Gumbi Gumbi which looks at what it is and whether it works to treat cancer: Gumbi Gumbi.
In summary, there is no credible independent scientific evidence that gumbi gumbi extract has any effect on cancer.
This is another great resource from the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in the US: https://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/diagnosis-treatment/symptom-management/integrative-medicine/herbs
We always recommend that if anyone is looking at alternative treatments for cancer either in addition to or in place of evidence-based medical treatment, please discuss these with your medical treating team.
Kind regards,
Margaret,

Hi @LM12,
Thank you for joining the Online Community and I'm sorry to hear about your dad's diagnosis. It sounds like it is very hard for you all.
Depending on your dad's location, there might be home visiting doctors in the area who also can visit after hours, some of whom bulk bill. They might be able to liaise with your dad's GP.
You or your mum might also find it helpful to call Cancer Council 131120 Information and Support line (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm) to see if there are other support services in the area that might be helpful for your family.
Kind regards,
Margaret

Hi @RCYoung,
Welcome to the Online Community. We are glad you have reached out to this supportive environment.
That sounds like a difficult diagnosis to hear, after everything you have already experienced. You may wish to access some additional information with this booklet from Cancer Council: Understanding Hodgkin Lymphoma and here.
You haven't mentioned how old your son is, but you both might find it helpful to be in contact with Canteen if he is between 12-25 years old. Canteen is a great organisation that supports young people when a family member has a cancer diagnosis.
If you would like to have a chat with one of our supportive team, the health professionals on the Cancer Council Information and Support line on 131120 are available Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. They can discuss further support that may be helpful.
Also please do keep us up to date here in the Online Community with how you are going. We are here for you.
Kind regards,
Margaret
