Marty had another fall in the early hours of this morning. He still tries to do things himself, but it usually ends up with him crashing to the floor (or this morning head butting the wall). I don't remember the last time I had a full night sleep....... He woke for breakfast, but has fallen asleep again. He probably won't wake again until lunch time now. This has become our routine. It's getting harder to pick him up when he falls, to the point where I have hurt my back, and my left shoulder and arm is in constant agony.

My husband (Marty) was diagnosed with an inoperable tumour on his brain stem on the 15th of May 2012. They were unable to biopsy it due to its location, but we were told it was aggressive and he would have less than 2 years to live. He started a 6 week (30 treatment) course of radiotherapy in June/July 2012, and had MRIs every 6 weeks to check the progress. Our oncologist put him on chemo tablets and he completed his first and only round in December 2012. He got so sick from it that he decided to cease all treatment and let nature run its course.

Geoff finally came home from hospital yesterday, now on warfarin so has to go to his gp tomorrow and have an INR, just another hurdle to deal with I suppose. I went down to see him today, took Mum but have only told her a very shortened version of the real story, at 92 and being in a nursing home I doubt that she could cope with the cancer part. Geoff looked really pale, and is really thin, is thin anyway but after 2 1/2 weeks of either no food or fluids I suppose it,s only natural that he would lose weight, just was a bit shocked when I saw him.

Its been 11 days since I lost my husband of 35 years to pancreatic cancer that spread to the bones, we've been together for 42 years, we were high school sweethearts. I don't know how to go on without him, He fought so hard to stay alive, I know he did it for me, he was worried that I wouldn't continue to live, I promised him I would take care of myself and I would be okay. I lied, I did that so he could pass and the suffering he endured would stop.

Hi All, I have some news to share, which many group members will already be aware of - after much thought, I have made the decision to return to the world of clinical cancer nursing and have accepted a position in a cancer care unit close to my home. I will thus be finishing up my role with Cancer Council and the Internet Support this afternoon. Working with this remarkable community has been an absolute privilege – thank you for sharing your experiences, thoughts and feelings so openly – I have learnt so much from you all.
