Having just undergone 6 months of chemo after my whipples op, I have just been told that the chemo wasnt successful and the cancer has spread into the lining of my stomach. It is hard to get an accurate prognosis as it's obviously not great that it's returned immediately but my general health is otherwise very good, so they really dont know.

Last week my counsellor suggested I try anti-depressants. So I went to the GP this morning and I can start them tomorrow. I'm not sure if I like the idea of anti-depressants but I also don't like having attacks of despair so it seems worth trying them.

If you had asked me 4 weeks ago about me logging into a cancer support site, i probably would have laughed at you. It's funny how quickly things change. And it's been one hell of a roller coaster ride. About 4 weeks ago I noticed a lump above my left collar bone that I hadn't seen before as immediately made an appointment with the doctor. OMG this chemo is certainly devastating, Les had seven hours of chemo on Thursday, and it has completely wiped him out,has had one side effect after another, I really take my hat off to everyone out there who has or is going through the same thing. Everything from constipation, then vomiting, Diarrhea, flu like symptoms, and generally wiping him out, have just been there supporting him and finding foods he can keep down, he has lost his appetite but have to persuade him to eat something even if just a smoothie so he can take all the tablets he has been prescribed and this is only day 5.

Hi everybody, I found out last Friday that my best friend has cervical cancer. She is 32 and very scared that she may not be able to have children. She is very positive but I just don't know how to be with her as I am so upset and feel so helpless. She is due to have an MRI scan on Wednesday to find out what stage the cancer is at. Please can anyone give me any positive experiences or help me to understand what I should expect to hear when I call her on Wednesday. In fact any insight to this would be helpful. I want to say the right things to her to help her get through. Thanks everyone.
