Hi Shar, thanks for sharing your story here. I just wanted to post a word of encouragement to you- my husband was diagnosed with stage 4 non Hodgkin's lymphoma (different disease, I know, but similar) five years ago, and today he got home from a cycling trip away with some friends- cycling up and down mountains. (They did Mount Hotham yesterday in the snow!) There is quite a lot of support on this site generally, but for something specific it can be a bit difficult- you could ask the Cancer council (and/or your Oncologist) if there is any specific support group for people with brain cancer. While cancer brings the same issues to everyone, there are also issues specific to each type of cancer. This site does have a specific section for family/carers of people with cancer- encourage your husband to make contact. I found this site after my husband's chemotherapy, and often wished I found it earlier- it's really good to know other people are facing the same issues as you (particularly at 3am when you can't sleep!) Waiting for test results and Doctor's opinions absolutely SUCKS! It's so bad that on this forum we even have a word for it- 'scanxiety'. There are a lot of people on here who can understand excatly what you mean. Hang in there- now may be a strategic time to pick up a needle and do a couple of stitches, or even pencil and colouring book and keep busy (or even plan a future project). Hi Ruby, I'm glad your new counsellor is helpful. I just wanted to second his recommendation about craft activities as therapy. I really love cross stitch and embroidery- I find them really useful as a tool for mindfulness, and you also get satisfaction and pleasure from being creative and looking at something you enjoy and knowing you made it. There are heaps of creative activities that could fit the bill, from photography to painting to baking or knitting- you're sure to find something that suits you. I hope this helps! love Emily ...
