There is a condition that I don't know what it is called where they need attention. Maybe you should ask your Doctor's advice as to how to approach this

Thanks to everyone to has commented -- this does indeed seem to be the right place to let off steam that we can't vent in front of our nearest and dearest.
I'm feeling better than I was when I first posted. Not because I have talked to a psychologist -- I have never had much luck with talking to psychologists -- but because I have learned to laugh at myself and at other people. It's much better than snarling at them

Hi victoria, i am also very sorry to hear this and i know exactly what you are going through. I had ACC in my right lacrimal gland which wasnt detected untill after it was removed. I was told it was ACC on november 23rd last year. The doctors wanted to remove my eye straight away but as it was so close to christmas a i was in shock i was able to put the surgery back to janurary. It was a good thing that it was removed. The ACC had spread into my eye and they were able to get a good margin. I am now driving, sewing and doing all the things i was doing before. Its a tough thing to go through and if you would like to talk about it im only too happy to help. Xx thinking of you

Wynne , it is my understanding that a secondary cancer is a different cancer altogether . When the same cancer returns it is a recurrence . I'm sorry to see that this happened to you . I trust that your treatment goes well this time .

Many times I've wondered ,as do others, how different our lives would be without support groups . I find it amazing in this day and age that doctors don't usually suggest to their cancer patients to join one .

I have only ever been a public patient but I have always received a private room - largely I guess due to the fact they thought I was going to die. I have never experienced delays, although, once again both my cancers were rather urgent in nature once they were discovered and probably fair to say that both had not a great prognosis intially attached to either cancer. 25 years later for my first cancer and going on 5 years for the 2nd cancer. For my first cancer I also had a young baby at the time and I am sure that was part of why they gave me a private room. I was able to keep my son with me and actively encouraged to do so, prior to my surgery.

I'm so sorry Wallyo. I can understand your mum wishing to stop chemo. I'm at that stage where I don't know if chemo is the best thing for my dad. He wants to do whatever he can to stay with us for longer but then he doesn't want to be in pain. The chemo is slowing down the lung cancer but the bone mets continue to grow. He has 8 mets and the lower back, hip is the one causing so much pain. We found radiation worked in the beginning but its not working now and the morphine isn't doing so well either. He is also starting to get moody but its understandable considering what they are going through. It is definitely hard to see your parents go through this and no one prepares you for it. It's also hard not knowing what's going to happen or how long they will be here for. Somedays you feel so alone even though your friends are their for you. It's such a destructive disease. I try to talk about normal everyday things with my dad so were not talking about cancer all the time and how he is doing. Try and keep your mum positive and do as much as you can while she's still mobile. My dad is in bed most days and you begin to miss the little things that they could do. Also as the pain meds increase you miss being able to talk to them as they just get drowsy and confused. It's really hard and like you I just don't know what to expect.
