Hi, in July 2024 I saw my GP regarding prostate issues. I had a PSA blood test which came back as 1.0, normal for my age. I then had an ultrasound which showed an enlarged prostate and was relived to hear not cancer, I was prescribed duodart medication, but after a week I suffered extreme side effects from the medication and was referred to a Urologist, after CT, & MRI I had a Turp & biopsy, the turp went well but the biopsy came back positive for grade 2 prostate cancer. I decided the best way to proceed was to have my prostate removed with robot assisted prostatectomy and therefore no longer an issue, I then had a PT scan in November which came back showing athe known Gleason 3/4 lesion on my prostate. I had a further PSA test 1 week prior to the surgery, score1.1, I then on 24 March I had the surgery . I saw my Urologist last week and was informed the pathology came back showing the known grade 2 cancer with a small grade 4 cancer attached. My Urologist is confident he removed all the cancer. Now I have an 8 week wait to see if my PSA has dropped to 0.0.

Hi Renae. My experience, about 4 months ago diagnosed with bowel cancer. Had surgery, all cancer removed, half way through my chemo. Went back to work about 6 weeks after surgery, way to early but I did the bloke thing and ignored the pain. I can’t comment on long term life with bc, the doc gave me months if I didn’t have the surgery, now they give me 5 years. Still have all my hair and growing a beard. Staying positive, eating drinking healthy and living just one day at a time is my new way. It’s not easy, their are more down days than ups but I refuse to let bc break me. Don’t let it break you soldier, stay STRONG 💪

Hi @Mary60 Yay for you and getting through all your treatment. What an amazing achievement. What a relief. As for how long until you know you are in remission? That will depend on your personal situation. Some variables in here might be what stage you were in to start with. Best to check in with your oncologist. Please let us know. Good luck Sean
