I feel a bit self-indulgent when I talk about my grief. Three friends I had in London died from Leukaemia related diseases and while I miss them dearly, that is not the only thing I mourn.

Hi there, I would be interested in peoples views on a rather morbid topic.

Just over 2 years ago I attended a 2 day training program to become an advocate for cancer related issues. This training, run by the Cancer Council was epic - and free (including accommodation, flights and meals). Why am I sharing this with you here in the Young Adult section of this site? Because the Cancer Council have just announced that they are running a similar training SPECIFIC for YACs aged 18-40 years.

I just wanted to say how useful the online cancer connections has been for me personally. I think it is great way to connect, support and share our experiences with others and developing friendships. Thank-you Cancer Council.

On Easter my friend had to go into hospital by ambulance as he was breathless just walking to the bathroom and shaving. He's been put on oxygen and given antibiotics for chest infection. Tomorrow is the start of a second round of chemo to control rapidly spreading mets in his lung. Thank goodness he's in good hands in hospital. Luckily my daughter was visiting for Easter and my son's family came over on Saturday. Having them around made a big difference. My friend's two younger sisters (75 and 73), and his son (41) were also able to visit him.

After a rather quiet long weekend, we are about to complete our first month live (tomorrow) and I think we should all be proud of how our community is beginning to grow and consolidate.
