Well today I got a reality check for myself and it is only just sinking in. I had a lump in my neck which took over 6 months to diagnose to finally have it operated on the 5th feb removing my left thyroid. Turns out its cancer so have to have the other side removed on the 5th march as well but its ok as thyroid cancer is the best type to have as the prognosis in 10 years where others are about 5.

My boy friend has upset me so much today I am typing this with tears running down my face. He is at the hospital today and I got all ready to go with him so I can hear what the doctors have to say but he told me he didn't want me to go with him. I was stunned, all I could do was go into my room and close the door. He left without me. I feel he has shut me out completely. I get that he doesn't want to know results of his ct scans ect. but he has to know I want to know. He said he doesn't want to know results because it doesn't change anything. My husband was diagnosied in mid November with small bowel/duodenal cancer (poorly differentiated) which has infiltrated into head of pancreas also. Whipple was to be undertaken 9 Dec but laparoscope revealed metastises to retroperiteneal tissue and a couple of spots to outside of stomach lining so 2 gastric bypasses performed as palliative treatment. Now on 2nd cycle of chemo (of 12 planned). Oxaliplatin/Leucovorin by IV and then Fluorouracil for 2 days by pump at home.

It's only been just over 2 months since I was put on the 'watch and wait' approach for Follicular Lymphoma. I have been having periodic sensations in my left arm for while. I mentioned this to my GP a few weeks ago but he didn't seem to think it was anything. This morning I woke with swelling above my left collarbone. I called the cancer care nurses and my oncologist wants an urgent CT, which I have an appointment for tomorrow and then an appointment to see him on Thursday, 27 February 2014.
