My MIL, who has terminal cancer, is deteriorating rapidly and no longer able to live alone. So there is a lot of talk in the family about what the next step is. Mum always said she wanted to stay at home as long as possible then go into the Palliative Care wing of the local hospital when she was near the end. Now that we are at that point Mum is very reluctant to go into the hospital and coming here to live with us is being talked about as an option. We are happy to have her here but I really wonder about how do-able this actually is.

I can hardly believe its been 8 months since I last wrote a post. All that time Mum has been slowly but surely going downhill. Eating less, sleeping more but still being herself and interested in all her usual things. Tomorrow will for most be just another day, work, school or stay home, just another Tuesday. For us things are different, tomorrow our family will once again put our future in the hands the faith we have in God, and the expertise of the doctors. We pray that our heavenly father will guide us and the doctors to understand what needs to be done and help us to get the answers we need. Thanks to all of our friends and family for the love and support you have expressed, Thanks also to the beautiful souls that we have met on our journey that are no longer with us, and we that remain.

So booked in for PET scan Tuesday and from then on to a cardio/ thoracic surgeon. If it's operable, good, if not "looks a bit dismal".

My father has so bravely been fighting cancer which started in his tonsil and has since spread to his tongue/mouth, jaw... Chemo is starting to not be an option due to the toll it is taking on his body, he can barely swallow and is in immense pain in his head/ear. I know my darling daddy is not going to be with us for long, but I'm so scared and can't find out what to expect? I'm so scared he will continue to suffer.... Has anyone been through this with a loved one? I'm just so lost and scared for him.....
