Yes mentally it can be very challenging to stop the thoughts of what if about cancer returning when in remission,I think you are not alone with those thoughts,however by having regular screening checks if it returns you can have early treatment,I have seen first hand from a family member what depression and anxiety can do to someone,ultimately it is your decision but if you are having problems with your other kidney I would have the necessary tests to find out.And take it from there.     ... Waz A mate of mine has  had the colostomy bag removed 3 weeks ago after rectal Cancer surgery ,he goes to the loo frequently,he has had a couple of times where he did not make it,the surgeon told him in time his bowels will settle down he has burning and discomfort after bowel movements ,but is glad the bag has been removed he has not mentioned about the possibility of wearing an incontinence pad permanently,but maybe  some outcomes are different.A difficult decision for you to make.All you can do is make an informed decision. ... Emily It’s understandable about these feelings and weariness you feel ,after so much uncertainty about your  husbands diagnosis and possible relapse .I experienced similar thoughts,doubts and what ifs ,but I was fortunate my prognosis changed and  as time went by I seemed to be able to push those thoughts away and focus on living in the now and what I can control,unless someone is living or has lived with that pressure and concern it’s very hard to comprehend,I sometimes see your compassionate replies to other posts always thinking of others best wishes on a hard road. kj ... Rosella52 A mate of mine is on a similar road as you he also has rectal cancer,with Mets to the liver,he has had chemo radiation,rectal surgery and a temporary colostomy bag,and is now recovering from having part of his liver removed ,he is going well, at the end of this month he will have his bag removed ,his recovery is going good he is back working a few days weekly and walking 4to 5kilometres regularly he is early fifties,as I say to my mate take it one day at a time ,best wishes with your treatment he was diagnosed 14 months ago. ...
