Use cbd or Rso oil as a preventative, it heals the body in so many ways, my mum has breast cancer that has spread to liver lung bone chest she was given 2 weeks incurable in December And she is still here strong and the tumours  have reduced, do research there are heaps of research on these oils. Hello. Many thanks for the reply. It means a lot to me! It has made me feel a lot better about what's happening. My psychologist has allowed me to vent and that has been helpful but hasn't given me any coping strategies like yours did. He has said though that my partner isn't as fragile as I seem to think and that he won't 'break' if I have a bit more 'me' time. That helped a lot having someone say that to me. I think because of all the complications my partner has had my sensitive and worrying nature has been exacerbated. I've now come to a point of acceptance about everything that's happening. It's the new 'normal'. I am able to do things I never thought I'd be capable of doing without bursting into tears and that's something I am quite proud of in itself. It's a bit of a cliche, but there have been some good things come out of a bad situation. It's not nice but as you say it is 'normal'. I think because I'm in a regional area it's been a bit tougher for me as I don't know anyone who has been through a similar journey and I haven't been told about the complications that my partner is having. It seems as though the professionals are even a bit concerned about some of the complications and that's what worries me the most. The health system seems to be 'broken' and that has made things more difficult. There's no radiation specialists for me to ask questions of. I will be following this up this week coming though and perhaps get some more answers. My partner is keeping in contact with some of his friends. He didn't want many people to know that he has cancer but living in a regional area the word has spread, as it often does. It's not nice to hear it seems to be a valid topic of conversation for people but we have accepted that there are some small minded people out there. He's not able to use his voice very much due to pain but I'm sure he will make up for it when he's better. I've been sending text updates to his family and close friends at least weekly and when we get news about anything new. Laughing is indeed important medication and he has a good sense of humour which is great. We have been watching some comedic tv, just half hour episodes as he hasn't much concentration and falls asleep easily because of the fatigue and meds but it!s something at least to take our minds of medical matters. Hello , I am not normally a fan of Robyn Williams but I was watching Patch Adams the other day and something he said made sense. He said that we are all dying a little every day. Therefore all anyone really has is today and everything else is illusion. Make the most of what you have today because there is nothing else. This makes particular sense to me as I now live from six month check up to the next six month check up. Worst case scenario , I could be dead in 2 years. However all this is meaningless really as I am alive today. This took me a while to understand and sometimes I think I may be a better person for knowing this. I agree that your husband may recover. Coming to terms with your own mortality is a challenge. I am watching my 1 1/2 year old daughter playing while I am writing this. Death is part of life. I hope this helps a little. ... View more

I too tend to imagine worst case scenario in most things. But even if you generally don't, cancer has the power to take you there. I reckon there is no more loaded word than cancer but I did not feel this until I was diagnosed. It just has so many connotations and fears attached to it even though some may never apply in every situation. Personally becoming bald really freaked me out as I look terrible in hats etc. As it turns out chemo was never going to be an option as it isn't effective with my kind of cancer anyway. So I got surgery which scares the hell out of me on the day but then you get knocked out and I do like Midazalam. Good luck everyone with whatever occurs and try not to scare the pants off yourself! Thanks all. I seem to settled on strawberry milk. I went cold turkey from the PEG about 5 days ago. I am progressing through the yoghurts to settle on one with taste. Fried sausage and chicken wings etc and even mushrooms are a little tasty. Corn unfortunately little taste. The main issue is that with dry mouth and little saliva I need a liquid to wash down the food. I drove my car for first time in 4 months and although was very tired felt OK afterwards. Dear Paul You are going thru a tough time I can tell. I had surgery but no chemo or radiation so am no expert. But I have no had appetite and low mood. I have found creamy yoghurt like from Gippsland Dairy to be soothing to eat. It is sort of like eating baby food for adults in the way it fills my mouth with creamy smooth softness. They have yummy flavours like apple and cinnamon and raspberry and coconut. I have no idea if these are what your Dr would recommend but then Maccas isn't every doctors idea of good food either. I found eating the yoghurt slowly and savouring its rich smoothness was helpful is all I am offering by way of ideas. Best wishes Grace ... View more
