Hi, I'm a 42 y.o, single mum who has just got my second cancer in 2.5 years. First time was cervical, now it's in my lung. I go to the doctor tomorrow to see what he is planning to do. I've had a really horrible week, my boyfriend walked out on Tuesday when I was at work. I have no family where I live, and no close friends. I can't access support services as I'm not old enough, and my kids are now expected to be my carers. How the heck do I move on???

Mum is holding her own most of the time right now, apart from an occasional bout with nasty nausea/vomiting. Its lovely to see her very chirpy since her decision not to have any further chemo and recent visits from far flung children and grandchildren have been highlights. Its been good to get some extra help set up with the nurse coming once a week to visit and homehelp there to shower her and do some housework 3X a week. I am so thankful for these support networks available to us.

After my operation, when I was waiting to do chemo therapy. I had to have blood tests every week for about 5 weeks. During that period, when I was visiting the oncologist, they told me that there was a slight chance that another tumour was growing. I tell you what, it will cause anyone sleepless nights when they are already dealing with just being diagnosed. http://www.thecancerstory.com/2011/09/part-10-game-of-time.html

Bad news. The new tumour looks worse while the original tumour looks the same. Try again, my partner told me to focus on the positive. The original tumour is the same. Great! The new tumour is of the same type, GBM. Excellent!! I can't see how he thinks this is positive. The Dr doesn't think he should continue with the clinical trial. Now it comes down to a few options of chemotherapy. I had high spirit this morning with quite a blue sky we had. Now it seems grey as with the sky in Melbourne.

Lately I have been getting more and more frustrated, my wife keeps telling people that the doctors are going to operate to take out her ovaries when her lung function improves, also the tumor in her head if that grows. The fact that the cancer is in her lung, head and bones and we have been told its terminal and they are only looking at controlling the pain with medication. Part of me wants to tell her that the surgery isn't going to happen, they did tell her that her health is not good enough to undergo the operations but on the other hand, I don't want to take away that hope either.
