I do.... Today after my husband recently diagnosed with stomach cancer in late nov 2009, was told there is a big clot in his leg and basically have.. injections to thin the blood which may cause an internal bleed which he had emergency surgery for 3 days before christmas and nearly died... or have filter to minimise it going to the lungs which is fatal.... We have decided to stop chemo because he can't fight anymore... he is almost bed bound, no energy and not having the quality of life... we hoped for. But tomorrow is another day....

Hi I know it's late but was wondering if anyone can tell me if I have any right to contact my dad's doctors re condition, medication etc. I live sth coast NSW and he lives Central Coast NSW and he has been in hospital on a few occassions and keeps having medication changed/increased. I just want to know if I ring his specialist/GP do they have to give me information without his consent as at the moment he is so vague about things. Cheers Chris

Returned last week from 8 days in Adelaide meeting our new grandson Sebastian.He is such a cutie but slept a lot of the time we were there.It was wonderful to see how excited my fiance was to meet his grandson.Just so thankful we got the time to do this. He is now on tablet form chemo and we go to hospital and Oncologist every three weeks for intravenous Avistan.

The first time I saw my oncologist, he said: " you are going to die, I cannot fix it, I cannot operate. The question is when. What Ican do is make you more comfortable and try to prolong your life".So I have had 2 cycles of chemo 3rd starting Thursday, plus pain drugs and although I have some skin problems , physically I look the same as ever, I still have my hair , I haven't had any significant weight loss and the tumours have shrunk significantly which means the treatment is doing what it set out to do. I think it makes it hard for my family to comprehend that I am sick.

My heart is breaking, in January I had to tell our young sons that their Daddy wasn't going to get better from the cancer that had invaded his body. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do (so far). The poor darlings, they are only 6 and 8 years old, life has changed so much for them already and the future looks anything but rosy. The emotional burden on all of us is just too hard. The insecurity and anxiety is at an all time high. Everyone is on edge. My heart is breaking and it still has to keep beating.

I thought I was making some progress with my dad's cancer and was trying to feel as positive as he seems to be. Although I really think he is trying to be strong for me and prepare me for when the time comes. His morphein dose has been doubled today and he has been given even more tablets for nausea but when I ask him about pain/nausea he just says tablets are in case he does feel sick. I really don't know what to think. I am back to where I was weeks ago although now I think I realise he may not have much time.
