I hit 124.5 kgs last November, the heaviest that I've ever been. By coincidence , I was contacted by a PHD candidate looking for cancer survivors to participate in an exercise program so I signed up rightaway. I have had 4 weeks of the preliminary program and I'm pleased to report that I'm feeling much better, my weight has dropped to 117 kgs and  my general fitness is gradually improving.   My  medications had converted muscle into fat and my sense of "invalid" had  virtually relegated me to coutch potatoe. This peer supervised exercise program has kick started me into a more outdoors/active lifestyle.   My blood tests are going well with PSA still sub 1 & testosterone creeping back to normal  which is the best possible scenario post radiation &  ADT.   But like Job in the Bible, life is not all beer & skittles. I was diagnosed with Polymylaglia Rheumatica (PMR)  just before Christmas which is a particuluarly nasty form of rheumatism  and I'm on the medication trip again except this time my life expectancy is not adversely impacted but PMR can last anywhere from 2 years to a lifetime. ... Hey there,   I have had stage 4 lung cancer. It metasticised to my brain metastasis about a year ago (April 2016). The cancer was originally diagnosed in August 2015. Initially I had chemo and 30 radiotherapy treatments for the tumour in my right lung, which had spread close by into my lymph sysyem. Last May, after 10 whole brain radiotherapy sessions the tumour stopped growing, but it left me physically wasted for 5 months. My Oncologist started me on Nivolumab (Opdivo) late in October last year. I am treated for 90 minutes every fortnight. The results have been far better than expected and although my 2 tumours haven't shrunk yet according to a CT scan in January, they have not grown either. I feel physically better than I have for a year now and am just taking it day by day. I am also growing wheatgrass as a Chinese friend of mine suggested it. I juice it into 75 ml shots, one a day. I hope this may offer encouragement to others who may consider Nivolumab. It has been life changing for me. At this moment no one would even know I have been this ill! This will be our fifth Christmas since my husband was diagnosed (stage 4 non-Hodgkin's lymphoma), and he is currently healthier than ever. He has been in remission for 4 years, and discovered a passion for cycling a year ago, and is now completely addicted (yes, he even wears the Lycra!). Hey Zol, Thank you for taking the time to offer your personal (and beneficial) account of your journey. Your sharing is greatly appreciated. I have a Gleason score of 7. I've met today with my urologist, and tomorrow I meet my radiologist, with the suggestion we will move to radiation (external). I read everywhere that radiation is done for five days at a time, yet my urologist is suggesting it will probably be for three days. I queried that, but he thinks three. I sure hope so. The distance from here to there -- home to hospital-- is a far drive. A packed lunch drive if you get my meaning. All my scans are back -- the cancer is localised in the prostate. Hi Deputy, I think that you are extremely brave and it's absolutely OK to complain under the circumstances. It's ok to not be strong all the time. What has happened to you absolutely sucks!
